Simon Tay is a writer and public intellectual whose works span literary, academic and public spheres. His poetry anthology 5 was highly commended by the National Book Development Council of Singapore (NBDCS) in 1985. His story collection Stand Alone (1991) was also highly commended by the NBDCS and shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize (both 1992).
